The Deck Cost Guide for Cali Bamboo Decking gives you product and price details that allow you to compare Cali Bamboo options to other popular brands like TimberTech, AZEK, Trex and Fiberon.
Cali Bamboo started as an interior flooring company and has branched into composite decking. It offers one wood-fiber decking product called TruOrganics and one of the only bamboo products in decking, BamDeck 4G. The fibers used in both products are recycled materials from the flooring side of Cali Bamboo. The company has made a genuine commitment to greener-than-average decking and flooring products.
Many readers come here for deck cost information, so here’s an overview upfront. Details follow.
Cali Bamboo BamDeck 4G decks with no railings start below $15 per square foot. The top cost for a TruOrganics deck with railings is $72/square foot. These deck costs produce a significant price range for 500 square foot decks of $6,500 to $36,000.
The two key factors are that the bamboo-fiber BamDeck 4G is much more affordable and that decks with railings cost up to 40% more. So going from a BamDeck 4G deck without deck rails to wide-plank TruOrganics deck with railings is a large cost upgrade.
Cali Bamboo decks without rails can be had for these installed costs for 500 square foot decks:
Many homeowners think the wide planks are an aesthetic upgrade, but they come with a premium price tag too.
Why is bamboo cheaper? Two reasons. While many think of bamboo as “exotic,” it is actually a fast-growing grass, so can be rapidly and sustainably produced. Secondly, and perhaps more importantly, Cali Bamboo flooring goes through a lot of bamboo to make its 30 bamboo flooring styles. There is plenty of scrap bamboo left over. In short, the bamboo material used is recycled waste – essentially free to the company.

About Cali Bamboo Decking
What began as a fencing company with an eye towards sustainability, Cali Bamboo introduced their first decking line in 2010. The brand’s material options are now bamboo, solid hardwood, engineered flooring with a solid top and a wood composite core and vinyl – in addition to wood composite and bamboo composite decking.
Cali Bamboo’s mission is to “make a difference today for a more sustainable future tomorrow.” They achieve this by using green building products as an alternative to traditional materials.
Why bamboo? Because bamboo is the fastest-growing plant on earth and is extremely strong. It can be re-harvested without damage to the environment around it or depleting the bamboo supply.

Decking Styles by Cali Bamboo
Cali Bamboo offers two lines of environmentally-friendly and durable composite decking, TruOrganics and BamDeck 4K. Both feature recycled materials and are resistant to the elements and to staining.
TruOrganics
The TruOrganics decking collection is made from 60% reclaimed wood fibers and 40% high-density recycled plastics. It comes in four colors, Glacier, Yosemite, Denali, and Sedona.
Board Sizes: All colors are available in standard 6-inch wide boards, and larger 8-inch wide boards. The standard width deck boards are 16 feet in length and the wider boards are 8 feet long.
Decking Style | Deck Widths | Deck Length |
TruOrganics | 6″ | 16′ |
TruOrganics Wide | 8″ | 8′ |
BamDeck 4G | 6″ | 16′ |
BamDeck 4G Wide | 8″ | 8′ |
Did you know? If a board is 6” wide, divide the length by 2 to determine how many square feet it covers. For 8” boards, multiply the width times the length in inches and divide by 144. So an 8” wide board 8’ (96”) long produces the equation 8×96/144=5.33 square feet.
Key Features: TruOrganics is produced with 3G CoreMax technology featuring cylindrical cutouts which increase tensile strength by 35% and make for a lighter board. The core is fully covered in a protective wrap to protect against stains, scratches, and sun damage.
Appearance: The boards feature a low-gloss matte finish and authentic wood grain texture. Square edge boards as well as end caps are available to give your deck a finished look.
Where to buy: TruOrganics decking is available at Lowe’s stores nationwide.
BamDeck
Here’s where bamboo makes its entrance.
Key Features: The BamDeck 4G line is made from 60% reclaimed bamboo, left over from the manufacturing of the company’s flooring products, and 40% recycled high-density plastics.
This combination of materials makes BamDeck 4G extremely dense and it absorbs 90% less water than regular composite decking. As a result, BamDeck 4G is ideal for climates that experience a lot of rain or snow or for locations near water.
Appearance and Board Size: The BamDeck 4G collection is available in three colors, Coffee, Slate, and Charcoal, in a smooth matte finish for a modern look. Each color also comes in standard (6-inch) and wide (8-inch) boards. The standard boards are 16 feet long and the wide boards are 8 feet long.
All planks have a scalloped edge profile to reduce cost and weight. Square edge boards are also available for areas where the ends of the boards will be exposed.
Where to Buy: BamDeck 4G is available through independent retailers. Flooring contractors in your area should be able to supply it to you from local sources.

Cali Bamboo Deck Installation
If you’re planning on installing Cali Bamboo decking yourself, you can find complete directions on the brand’s website.
The decking can be installed using screws fastened directly through the face of the boards or using Cali Bamboo’s hidden fastener system as each board features grooved edges. Make sure to inspect all deck boards for manufacturing defects prior to installation.
Many people choose to have their new deck professionally installed. If you’re heading in this direction, make sure to get multiple quotes as well as references from previous customers of the contractors you are considering. Google reviews and BBB ratings are worth looking at too. Hiring a deck contractor with a proven track record will ensure that your new deck is properly installed.
Deck Care and Maintenance
Cali Bamboo composite decking is extremely low-maintenance and with a little care, it will look beautiful for years to come. Regular sweeping with a soft-bristle broom is recommended to prevent the buildup of dirt and leaves. Food or other spills should be cleaned immediately. Mild detergent and a garden hose can be used if necessary, pressure washers are not recommended.
Warranty Information
Both the TruOrganics decking and BamDeck 4G decking collections come with a 25-year limited residential warranty. The warranty protects against splintering, rotting, termite damage, and other decay under normal usage conditions.
It also protects against permanent staining from common food and beverage spills provided that spills are cleaned immediately. Cali Bamboo’s railings and posts are also backed by a 25-year limited residential warranty.
